As a result of a growing pipeline of local and international awarded work in commodities including Uranium, Phosphate and Battery Minerals, we are currently recruiting for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Perth team.

About the role

  • Provide guidance, mentorship and technical knowledge to the mechanical engineering team according to required time frames and standards by reviewing deliverables and providing high level technical expertise.
  • Review and approve project execution strategies and engineering plans in conjunction with the assigned Engineering Manager on a project.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of Ausenco projects by working across projects and providing a high level of expertise in the various technical disciplines
  • Review and approve project design criteria, standards and calculations
  • Effectively apply Ausenco methodology and enforce project standards and contribute to any continuous improvement opportunities in the methodology and standards.
  • Provide technical expert advice on designs, engineering processes or unique and unconventional methods
  • Prepare engineering proposals and budgets, manage teams staying within the assigned budget and reporting any discrepancies
  • Coordinate project design activities to ensure the achievement of quality and completion of project objectives.
  • Arrange for technical reviews as specified in operating procedures and the project execution plan.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions.
  • Foster a customer focused team environment that promotes openness, trust, empowerment, innovation, teamwork and high-quality performance for client satisfaction.
  • Effectively apply Ausenco methodology and enforce project standards and contribute to any continuous improvement opportunities in the methodology and standards.
  • Comply with relevant business management system (or quality) policies & procedures.
  • Manage technical discussion with third parties (customer, suppliers, and regulators) to facilitate appropriate technical decisions.
  • Identify technical solutions (new or improved unit process applications) that can be added to the company database

 

About you 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering.
  • 15+ years’ proven technical and management experience with an engineering consulting firm or other large organization; construction experience is desirable.
  • Previous experience in Minerals & Metals is a must
  • Previous experience leading and guiding engineering teams.
  • A proven track record managing multiple projects simultaneously or a single project of major size and scope.
  • Demonstrated leadership and client liaison skills
  • A proven ability to deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • An excellent understanding of Mechanical engineering specifications, industry (minerals and metals) standards, practices, applicable codes including national, provincial and local codes, acts and regulations.
  • Strong problem solving and organization skills and ability to meet tight deadlines while providing exceptional service to our clients is a must
  • Understanding of Financial Reports and project budgets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Willingness to travel.
