About the Opportunity:

Ausenco has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Industrial and Infrastructure group at our Burlington location.  We are looking for someone with passion, drive, and motivation in the pursuit and delivery of projects, as part of our growing consulting team environment.   

The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering client relationships and providing electrical leadership in the design and management of a variety of industrial and infrastructure projects.  

As part of a full service multi-disciplined engineering team, you will engage with clients to identify and execute value-creation opportunities across a variety of electrical projects. 

About the role:

Responsibilities of the Senior Electrical Engineer role include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee and provide support on electrical engineering design to produce deliverables such as budget and capital cost estimates, single line diagrams, electrical load lists, equipment datasheets, equipment specifications and datasheets, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, equipment layouts, grounding layouts, lighting and power plans, cable tray layouts, power system studies, cable schedules, panel schedules, control schematics, electric heat trace design, wiring diagrams, and construction work packages.
  • Preliminary and detailed Electrical design for Medium and Low Voltage power distribution systems and Motor Control Centres and substations.
  • Prepare and manage electrical engineering proposals and budgets.
  • Work in accordance with Ausenco’s values and demonstrate commitment, active involvement and leadership regarding safety, sustainability, client, people and financial accountabilities.
  • Confirm engineering discipline planning meets design requirements, scope and client expectations by maintaining a high level of communication with project team and clients.
  • Plan and lead project teams as a Project Manager for assigned projects.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and contractors to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions.
  • Manage complex technical discussions with third parties (clients, suppliers, and regulators) to facilitate appropriate technical decisions.
  • Lead and participate in Business Development initiatives and growth for Burlington in Ontario.

About you:

  • A recognized Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited university and a P. Eng. designation.
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years consulting engineering experience, preferably gained through industrial and building projects relating to manufacturing, materials handling, power generation, distribution, and building services.
  • Project management (PMP) designation is an asset.
  • Significant electrical design experience is essential. 
  • Complete understanding of electrical engineering requirements, Codes and Standards including OBC, IEEE, OESC, CEC, ESA, etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of building power distribution systems, grounding, lighting, fire alarm, arc flash study and emergency power.  
  • Experience with sub-station design, switchgear, MCC’s, VFD’s and cable systems would be an asset.
  • A reputation for successfully handling projects and people simultaneously and effectively.
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and multiple deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, to provide technical reports, specifications, and proposals.
  • Strong desire to interface with clients, determine needs, and prepare proposals for services in conjunction with engineering team members.
  • Willingness to become part of a highly technical team providing ingenious and value-added solutions to a diverse client base.
  • Engaging interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of group dynamic situations. 
  • Experience leading Electrical Engineering project team of Engineers, Designers and Drafters.
  • Ability to lead, mentor and support technical staff
  • Ability to provide overall quality control of design packages and specifications

Salary range: 135K to 175K annually

Expected Salary: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as qualifications, relevant years of experience, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
